Doulas who specialize in postpartum care offer many services to their clients, however, she is most committed to helping “mother the mother” and nurturing the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn.

It is not unusual for a postpartum doula to be hired for a few days or a few weeks after the baby has been born, depending on what the family needs. A postpartum doula may work anywhere from one to five days per week.

Doulas who specialize in postpartum care often provide nighttime services to help families transition and adjust more smoothly to the challenges of nighttime parenting. It’s important for each family to decide what their needs are and to choose a professional who will be able to meet those needs and help them with those specific services

Breastfeeding support

Help with the emotional and physical recovery after birth

Light housekeeping so that mom does not feel so overwhelmed

Running errands / Light meal preparation

Assistance with newborn care such as diapering, bathing, feeding, and comforting

Baby soothing techniques/sibling care

Referrals to local resources and support groups within my network

Some of the duties can be
